My Teaching Philosophy

As an educator, it’s my goal to instill a working knowledge of the many facets of literature to my students, help them grow as adults, and give them the tools in which they need to succeed in life. I have learned a great deal throughout my journey at Western Michigan University.  I, myself, have acquired those necessary tools and education that I hope to utilize and put in to practice in the classroom.  I look forward to the opportunities in front of me to teach and to be able to continue to grow and learn as an educator.

I believe English as a subject, should be viewed just like the language; it is ever changing and should be taught that way. I believe that as an educator it isn’t solely our job to help our students grow, rather, to view the world with a “teacher as learner” point of view,  and continue to grow for the sake of ourselves and our students.
